The caucks got lucky & came from behind late to sneak out these wins. Like watching NJ steal points for the last decade. You need not worry the only team really to give Vancouver a run for last in the west is Calgary. Arzizona's start is concerning but I assume they will come around. Regardless the standings in points are going to be very tight in both conferences & the difference between finishing last in the West & 7th may only be 7 or 8 points in the East 8 to 10.

Vancouver has a brutal stretch of games in November. Let's talk again about the Canucks on Dec 1st.

I think the Sens are really underestimated by a lot of folks, they've got a decent team, not great but good. Should be a close game if the Canucks can continue to be on the right side of the puck defensively. Sunday the weren't against Anaheim and it cost them.

Hmmm it seemed as though we were going to address our defensive problems but it doesnt seem like thats been the case yet... Are our players regressing defensively or is there just a bad culture of offence first ? Im also not sure Anderson is completely up to the task of covering up our mistakes anymore.
I like the Smith-Pageau-Stone line, hope they get some playing time in the offensive zone and not just defensive starts. IMO thats a line you can put out in any situation including any and all special teams.

I honestly find the negativity around this team crazy right now. It's negative on the radio, on TV, and online in forums like this.

The Sens have played sloppy for sure, but they are 3-2.

Thing is, our 'top guys' other the EK have been pretty terrible. If this team is going to do well, guys like Hoffman and Stone have to be difference makers. To this point, both have been pretty invisible. Sure, they have some points but most are of the 2nd assist variety.

I don't expect their slumps to last. Both have shown they can get it done at the NHL level. Stone basically missed all of training camp, too.

Most of us had them pegged as a bubble playoff team, and after 5 games, I'm not sure what's changed with that. They still look to me like a bubble playoff team. Injuries and bad goaltending will cause them to miss, and health/guys playing to their potential will cause them to comfortably make it.

This team is never going to be a defensive dynamo and if they are going to be successful, they can't play like that anyways. I expect them to be in the top 10 in both GF and GA.

I think the sens are still just adjusting to a new coach with a new system. I don't see them being mediocre much longer. I think tonight they will break out tonight with a 5-2 OTT win. Canucks are going to come back to reality tonight.

because, according to the coach, all six d-men have been playing too well to be taken out of the lineup.........

Hopefully this gets Pageau going. His production is just as important as the rest.

Meh, its not all on the blueline and goaltending .The forwards have more than played their part into the shoddy defense we have been seeing .The top 6 less Turris has been pretty bad ,i like the changes .Every line now has speed and defensive awareness

If Ryan moves to the pressbox would we even notice? His floating around between the blue lines is tiresome.
Better yet move Peumple to his spot and see if that sparks something

They haven't been bad, it's more the defensive play of the 5-players on the ice at any given time.

ceci - 1 assist, -3, cf% 38.8

phaneuf - 0 pts, -1, cf% 42.2

boro - 0 pts, cf% 44.0

that's (frank)ing disastrous......especially ceci

karlsson has been insanely good, and meth and wideman have also been good

in his defense, i feel that phaneuf has been okay.....he's being anchored by ceci who has looked (frank)ing lost all season

Hopefully this road trip brings the team together and they get their mojo going..

I remember this western Canada road swing last season. The Sens didn't do well and it all but elimanted them from playoff contention.

Dzingel is awesome.

He has a knack for finding the right place to go to.... I really didn't think he was going to be this good... mind you it's still early.

But if Lazar can find his scoring + overall game in Belleville, then the lineup up front could look really good by mid season (fingers crossed for health)

Hoffman - Turris - Stone
Dzingel - Brassard - Ryan
Smith - Pageau - Lazar
Pyatt - Kelly - Neil

moving up Pyatt if someone isn't playing well on a given night. Btw, Hoff really has to get going.... how long you chalk it up to g-scorer being streaky

Anderson and Ceci have looked good tonight. They needed a bounce back game.
